Lamauld is a soft, single-ply aran weight yarn consisting of 50% llama wool and 50% Peruvian Highland wool.
Llama wool's fibres are an exclusive natural product, lanolin-free, light and strong. The hollow structure of the fibres gives an exceptionally good insulating ability, which is why llama wool is considerably warmer than ordinary sheep's wool. The yarn's rustic expression, high insulating ability and strength make Lamauld particularly suitable for classic Nordic sweaters and cardigans, outerwear and blankets.
The spinning of the yarn means that Lamauld only unfolds completely when it has been knitted and rinsed. A knitted and washed sample is therefore highly recommended to get the full impression of the yarn's properties, expression and softness. Llama wool naturally has highly variable fibre lengths, which gives surplus fibres in the work process. The majority of these fibres are washed out during the first washes, which makes the result even softer.
