Atlantic Coast Yarns Sonas is produced in an antique woollen mill in County Donegal, using 100% wool — 60% of which comes from Irish sheep. The result is a yarn with real character: a slight rustic texture, excellent stitch definition, and a warmth that comes from wool that hasn't been over-processed into uniformity. These aren't the smooth, squeaky strands of industrial yarn. This is wool that still feels like wool.
The colourways are inspired by the rugged Irish landscape — think heathered tweeds, mossy greens, Atlantic greys, and earthy naturals. Colours that feel like they belong somewhere windswept and beautiful.
At aran weight, Sonas is satisfying to work with — quick enough to see progress, sturdy enough for projects that need to last. Ideal for sweaters, hats, cowls, and anything you want to wear hard and keep for years.
At £8.75 a skein, it's an accessible price for a yarn with a genuine story behind it. In stock in Belfast and available online with fast UK delivery.
