Supporting The Ladies' Shed

£30.00 raised

There's a group in Antrim called The Shed — most people locally know it as The Ladies' Shed — and if you've never heard of it, it's exactly the kind of place I love most.

It started as a community pilot, grew into something independent and self-sustaining, and became a space where women aged 18 and over could come together without agenda: to make things, share skills, have a laugh, and simply not be alone. Crafting, conversation, community projects. Real friendships formed over fabric and yarn. That's it. That's the whole beautiful thing.

In July, a fire broke out at a neighbouring property and they lost their premises. Just like that. They've been bouncing between library spaces and church halls since, doing their best to keep the group alive — and honestly, the fact that they're still showing up says everything about the community they've built. But they deserve better than borrowed space. They deserve a home.

I want to help get them there, and I'd love for you to be part of that.

Here's how you can help

Make a direct donation

Every bit goes directly to helping The Ladies' Shed get back on their feet and into a proper, permanent space. No amount is too small — this is a grassroots group that runs on goodwill and community support.

Donate craft supplies in-store

I'm collecting donations of yarn, fabric, and other craft supplies here at Hanks Yarn Parlour. If you've got a stash you're ready to pass on, bring it in and I'll make sure it gets to people who'll use and appreciate it. Drop by the shop any time Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm.

Shop at Hanks before the end of September

If you've been thinking about picking up some new yarn or topping up your supplies, now's a lovely time to do it. Through the end of September, a portion of proceeds from every sale at Hanks Yarn Parlour will go to The Ladies' Shed.

So you get yarn. They get closer to having their space back. That works for me.

Thank you for reading this far, and for caring about spaces like this one. Crafting communities are special — and The Ladies' Shed is worth fighting for.
